Exotex — collect your exotic cars. Effective July 11, 2026.
Exotex is a car-spotting game. We collect as little as possible: no account, no name, no email, no ads, no analytics trackers, and we never sell data.
Photos you take in the app are stored on your device. When you scan a car, a downscaled copy of your photo is sent over HTTPS to our server, which forwards it to Anthropic (our AI provider) solely to identify the car. Our server does not keep a copy of your photo. Capture details (time, image dimensions, camera model) accompany the photo to prevent abuse of the scanner.
Adding a spot location is optional. Before it is saved, your position is blurred on your device to roughly a neighborhood (~1 km). Exact coordinates never leave your phone, and location data stays on your device.
The app uses a random token (not tied to your identity) to count free scans and prevent abuse. Subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple; we receive Apple-signed proof of your subscription status but never your payment details, name, or Apple ID.
If you use Friends (an optional, subscription-gated feature), a summary of your garage — your chosen display name, score, Dex progress, and the names of your rarest cars — is published via Apple iCloud (CloudKit) and visible to people who have your friend code. Your photos and location are never part of this summary.
Your collection lives in the app's storage on your phone. You can export it or erase it anytime in Settings, and deleting the app deletes it. To remove a published friends summary, contact us.
Exotex is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
